
Quite a bit better than I expected, and did a nice job of staying true to the Stephen King vibe. There are some definite holes in the script but it managed to avoid the sappiness that's common in Frank Darabont's films. Pretty creepy, actually.

I just watched this on DVD. I agree; it stayed very true to the singular creepiness of the novella, which is one of my favorite things Stephen King has ever written (I've lost count of how many times I've read it).
Most of the script followed the story so closely, in fact, that I was completely unprepared for the ending. /shudder
